Suffering
DE · EN
A large rectangular field of deep black ink dominates the left side of the image. Its edges are irregular, as if the brush had been pressed hard into the paper, while the center remains almost impenetrably dark—a dense block of shadow. Toward the right, the blackness softens, losing its hardness and fraying into a dusty grey shimmer.
Beside this heavy darkness stand three thin vertical lines, delicate and almost trembling, as if drawn with the lightest brushstroke. They appear fragile compared to the massive black.
The composition conveys heaviness and constriction, yet also a faint, quiet resistance: the thin lines feel like a breath that persists despite everything. An image of suffering that does not scream but presses silently—while still leaving a trace of movement, of possibility.
